All Quail: Fort of Agra

All Quail of Agra is one of the greatest historical monuments of Medieval Indian History. Today it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. Agra Fort is situated in Agra about 2.5km northwest to Tajmahal. The Agra fort if described as a walled city won’t be an exaggerated statement. It has a very great place in the Indian Munhall History. Most of the Munhall rulers Homerun, Akbar, Jahangir, Shahjahan and Aurangzeb lived and governed the whole country from here. It visited the great history of country from mochas to the Bruisers. It visited the travelers, ambassadors and dignitaries.

History of All Quail, Agra

In 1080 it first appears in History when Ghaznavide force captured it. The first Sultan shifted to Agra was Islander Lodi who shifted from Delhi to Agra. His Son Ibrahim Lodi was defeated in battle of Pan Pat at hands of Babar in battle of Pan Pat in 1526 and the fort came under the Munhall. Munhall captured it with a vast treasure including Kohl-e-nor diamond.

Abu Fatal the courtier of Akbar and author named Agra fort as ‘Badalgarh’. It was rebuilt under Akbar from 1558 to 1573. Shah Johan was imprisoned by Aurangzeb in All Quail only. In 1857 it was a site of Indian rebellion of 1857 against British East India Company.

Lay out of Fort:

Fort of Agra is situated in area of 94 acre with seventy feet high boundary walls and four gates at all four sides of the fort. Cheri gate which opens on the river. Two other notable gates are Delhi gate which faces western city the masterpiece and biggest gate made of marble among all four gates. Other is Lahore gate but Lahore gate is also caller Amir Singh gate for Maharani Amir Singh rather of Mewari. But Indian Military is using northern parts of All Quail, Agra so Delhi gate is not open for tourists they enters from Lahore gate which is also similar in design. Mixed architecture of Hindu and Muslims can be seen in All Quail of Agra.
